ESOL
What is the overall aim of what we are learning in ESOL?
The curriculum is primarily designed to help students who are relatively new to the country and for whom English is not the first language . Through various contexts, students are taught to improve their vocabulary and grammar skills . A lot of emphasis is also given to helping students improve their writing skills. This further enables them to perform better in all the other curriculum areas.
What are the students learning in Year 9, 10 & 11?
Students improve upon their existing English language skills. This assists them in their other subject areas
Why are they learning these things?
The curriculum reflects the inclusive aims of the school. It allows students who have English as an additional language to have extra language support. This gives them the language and life skills they need to progress both in and beyond school life.
